We are embarking on a concentrated week of activity to shine a light on all the brilliant work that goes on in colleges across the country every day. It is a chance not just to celebrate staff and students, but to showcase the need for proper investment.
Getting blogs from college leaders, staff, students, parents and supporters in local and national media outlets is a great way of doing this.
As well as looking for people to write blogs for us (topics and publications tbc), we are also encouraging people to write their own to share with their local press and relevant websites. If you are interested in writing for us, please do email firstname.lastname@example.org, alternatively we would recommend contacting publications you’re interested in writing for, in advance to check that they’d be interested in your story.
We’d recommend 600-800 words with a real focus on the ‘so what?’. Why should people care about what you’re talking about – the more personal and human interest, the better.
Recent stories that have interested the media have included; the pressure of GCSE resits, student hunger, mental health, and teacher pay.
Huffington Post have a great blog on how to write a great blog.
